I like to think of tahini as “liquid gold” for the keto diet (or any diet, really). When you buy the good stuff (the right brand), tahini is DIVINE. Not only is it low in carbs (only 1g net carbs per 2 tbsp serving), but it has this smooth, nutty, unmistakable flavor. It is seriously good stuff.

I feel like I don’t see tahini used enough in keto recipes and I aim to change that with this post. Not only did I develop a ridiculously good Loaded Keto Salad recipe for you (with a tahini dressing), but I’m also including links to four more keto-friendly recipes with tahini.

What is Tahini?

Despite its nutty flavor, tahini is actually made from seeds — roasted and pressed sesame seeds.

My Favorite Tahini Brand

I’ve tried a lot of brands of tahini over the years, but I stumbled upona brand about a year and a half ago from a brand called Soom.

Their tahini isamazing(truly the best I’ve ever tried — I eat it straight out of the jar and it has the perfect drippy texture), and I also love the story of their company. It was founded by three sisters in Philadelphia, so it’s a completely woman-owned company. What can I say… women know how to do tahini right. 🙂

You can pick up Soom Tahini by clicking here!

They have jars of regular, organic, and even single-serve packets. Yum!

They also gifted me a 2-pack which I used to develop the first recipe, Loaded Keto Salad. Thanks so much, Soom!

Keto Tahini Recipe #1: Loaded Keto Salad

5 Delicious Tahini Recipes for the Keto Diet (Includes Loaded Keto Salad Recipe!) (3)

One of the biggest misconceptions about the keto diet is that you can’t eat vegetables because they have too many carbs. That couldn’t be further from the truth! You CAN eat vegetables; you just have to choose the right ones.

I decided to make a “Loaded Keto Salad” packed with veggies, protein, and of course healthy fats. This salad contains (full recipe at the end of this post):

  • Tomatoes
  • Mushrooms
  • Almonds (or pecans)
  • Mixed greens
  • Bacon
  • Avocado
  • Turkey breast
  • Cheese
  • Tahini

This salad has it ALL. Tahini makes its appearance by being drizzled over the salad for a divine dressing. Yep, no need to make a dressing — just drizzle the tahini and enjoy. (I’m not the only one who loves a pure tahini drizzle. I’ve even heard of people putting it on ice cream! You can also drizzle it over chicken, avocados, eggs, Butter Burgers… just about anything, really.)
