WWE Elimination Chamber 2024: Becky Lynch Winning And 5 Smart Booking Decisions (2024)

WWE Elimination Chamber 2024 may only have five announced matches, but the blockbuster card is the pivotal final stop on the road to WrestleMania 40.

Last year’s record-breaking Elimination Chamber event helped advance numerous WrestleMania storylines, establishing Asuka as the No. 1 contender for the Raw Women’s Championship and building toward Sami Zayn’s big tag team match alongside Kevin Owens. This year’s show should be no different.

Two of the most star-studded Elimination Chamber matches ever will determine Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight title challenger as well as Rhea Ripley’s No. 1 contender. In addtion, Ripley will defend her Women’s World Championship in her home country in a highly anticipated match against Nia Jax while both Rollins and Cody Rhodes will appear on the Grayson Waller Effect talk show.

With a plethora of major moments potentially set to take place in Perth, Ausralia, WWE would be wise to make these five booking decisions at Elimination Chamber 2024.

The Judgment Day Retain The WWE Tag Team Titles

Finn Balor and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day will defend the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against the new duo of Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne, known collectively as the New Catch Republic.

Yet, this short-lived rivalry is clearly playing second fiddle to a surprisingly intriguing tag team feud that has carried Raw for weeks now. Of course, that would be Judgment Day vs. the reunited duo of The Miz and R-Truth, whose comedic greatness has resulted in a shockingly compelling angle.

Now, despite all of the great tag teams in WWE, the hottest one is Awesome Truth, which has gotten over big time as babyfaces thanks in large part to Truth’s hilarious quest to join Judgment Day. There is, as a result, only one place for Awesome Truth vs. Judgment Day to hit its climax, and that’s at WrestleMania 40.

So, to get there, Judgment Day needs to defeat New Catch Republic at Elimination Chamber in rather resounding fashion.

Rhea Ripley Topples Nia Jax

Both Ripley and Jax were actually born in Australia, making this Women’s World Championship bout a great choice to headline Elimination Chamber.

Ripley has been tremendous over the past couple of years while Jax is easily the best she’s ever been as a character and overall performer. With Ripley seemingly in the early stages of a gradual babyface turn and defending the title as the hometown hero, Elimination Chamber should end with—or at least feature—the unforgettable moment of Ripley hitting her Riptide finisher on Jax much to the delight of the Australian crowd.

WWE’s creative team has done a masterful job of building up this rivalry on Raw, and it’s only fitting that Ripley gets one of the biggest moments of her career by beating the seemingly unbeatable Jax. Doing so in Australia will only make it sweeter for “Mami.”

Drew McIntyre Wins The Men’s Elimination Chamber

Although Drew McIntyre’s WWE deal has been extended beyond WrestleMania 40, he has reportedly not reached a new contract with WWE and could be gone from the company sooner rather than later.

But that doesn’t change the reality that McIntyre is doing the best work of his career and is therefore the best candidate to win the men’s Elimination Chamber match and challenge Rollins at WrestleMania 40. Although this match is jampacked with top stars—McIntyre, Randy Orton, Bobby Lashley, Kevin Owens, LA Knight and Logan Paul—it appears on the surface that only McIntyre or Orton has a realistic shot at winning it.

Orton, Rollins’ preferred choice for his opponent, would be a solid choice given how popular he is, but in terms of Orton vs. Rollins at WrestleMania, this is a case of been there, done that. This new heel version of McIntyre, however, has added so much intrigue to a potential Rollins vs. McIntyre bout, especially with McIntyre in the midst of his greatest WWE heel run ever.

If WWE wants to book the most logical outcome, McIntyre winning is a no-brainer, regardless of his contract situation.

Logan Paul Eliminates LA Knight

With neither Logan Paul nor LA Knight seeming to have much of a chance in the men’s Chamber match, this gives WWE the perfect opportunity to begin their journey to a WrestleMania bout—against one another.

In fact, Paul vs. Knight has reportedly been considered for WrestleMania 40, and at this point, it should be the top choice for both stars. Given that the vast majority of WWE’s other’s top stars have a clear path to WrestleMania, it’s time for Knight and Paul to have one as well.

In the ideal situation, Knight will be the one to dethrone the part-time Paul at WrestleMania 40, but he must face some adversity to get there. The easiest way to ignite a red hot feud between the two is for Knight, a dastardly heel, to eliminate Paul from the men’s Chamber match.

That’s pro wrestling booking 101.

Becky Lynch Wins The Women’s Elimination Chamber

The only Women’s World title match that has been teased for Ripley at WrestleMania 40 is a colossal showdown against Becky Lynch, and that’s likely been by design.

WWE kept Ripley and Lynch, its top two female stars on Raw, away from each other for close to a year, which is difficult to do. Over the past couple of months, however, they’ve had two major segments with one another, both of which have not-so-subtly suggested that Lynch winning is a virtual shoo-in.

Given that Lynch’s contract status is eerily similar to that of McIntyre, perhaps this is all just a red herring to give someone like Liv Morgan or even Bianca Belair the victory and main event match at WrestleMania 40. But Lynch vs. Ripley is the match with the most buzz surrounding it and the most star power involved.

The heavy betting favorite, Lynch should win the women’s Elimination Chamber match, and any other outcome would be a missed opportunity—not to mention an upset for the ages.
